The New Industrial Revolution – Everyone’s a maker!

Another industrial revolution is under way, and we are in the midst. And it’s all thanks to our brand new MakerBot Replicator 2 which was delivered earlier today.

Well, it might be way too early to describe the emergence of 3D printing as a new industrial revolution – although Chris Anderson has just done that in “The New Industrial Revolution“. But it surely is a first step into transforming today’s mass manufacturing.

And while prototyping for our clients and our recent lab projects like the “Parkvogel” had to rely on external printing services, we’re now up to printing prototypes on our own within minutes and iteratively refining our designs. The MakerBot Replicator 2 uses “additive manufacturing” by extruding a PLA plastic-filament which comes in all sorts of colors – even in “glow in the dark”.

We’re waiting for the sunset…
