BlackBerry Storm

I recently had the chance to get my fingers on the new BlackBerry Storm. Which is kind of the RIM answer on the iPhone. By the way that’s one of the most underestimated features of the Apple Phone: It’s finally pushing user interface innovation in the mobile market.

Hey it’s a touch screen that’s clickable

From an overall perspective the phone is not a huge revolution. It’s mainly just keeping up with the innovation of mobile interfaces. But besides from all the standard features the design team has come up with an interesting enhancement of the touchscreen technology.

The Storm has a haptical touchscreen. So you can actually press down the screen and get a klick feedback. Kind of the same feedback you get from a mouse button. Having a touch phone myself I can tell that I’m fed up with a lot of drawbacks of this technology. Cleaning up the screen all day and no adequate haptical feedback are on top of the list.

So this seems like a step into the right direction. We’ll see where the touch interface is heading to.
