From navigation systems to DVD players, Cruise Control, Brake or Night View Assistant, modern Mercedes vehicles are filled with technology designed to increase the driver’s comfort and safety. Our task is to enable drivers to use these complex systems in the most effortless way possible.
Together with Daimler’s research department, we are developing user interfaces that offer crucial benefits to driver and passengers. As a result, the next generation of Mercedes-Benz driver assistance systems will be very easy and comfortable to handle. Instead of deciding what to do, the driver operates electronic systems intuitively. Camera images, travel information or danger alerts are fed to him/her directly without distracting from the traffic. After all, only systems that offer a positive user experience are embraced by drivers. High usability also benefits Daimler’s brand image. It underscores the company’s core values of innovation, safety, reliability and premium quality.
The current design scenarios are just the beginning. In the future, we may be able to create interface solutions that can reach beyond car-to-driver communication, linking a number of vehicles, for example, to avoid accidents.
