Shaping Fernweh – a digital travel companion for DER Touristik

People love to travel. There are however many hurdles that can get in the way of a relaxing trip. For DER Touristik, we have created a digital companion that makes the travel experience perfect. The three subsidiary brands Apollo, Fischer, and EXIM are jointly developing an app for the Scandinavian and Eastern European market. For travelers, it is a source of inspiration and a companion on the road. At the same time, the app creates a direct link to the Group's diverse portfolio and becomes a decisive factor for customer satisfaction and sales success.

What have we accomplished?

The app is highly modular and versatile. It allows the different brands to communicate in their respective corporate design with consistency and emotion. In addition, the range of functions can be adapted to the situation and needs of the different markets.

We love working on a truly European project: The team is spread across Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany and Spain. With the our transparent project structure and a strong culture of cooperation, it feels like sitting in the office next door.

We achieved a stunning result in a very short timeframe: It took only 7 months until our enthusiastic and highly skilled team released the MVP live on the app stores.

What are the highlights of the app?

Local Spice - an emotional anchor for the vacation destination. The motifs are key to ensure quick recognition and connect fond memories - like a book cover or a postcard. The respective motifs reflect the unique features of the various vacation regions. The "Local Spice" stage can be interpreted very versatilely, creating space for the brand identity to unfold.

Hubs - the correct information at the right time. The app offers prominent placement for valuable information. For example, the Assistant Cards inform travelers about the upcoming events in chronological order – gone is the fear of missing something important. The Experience Slider helps to explore the vacation region via excursions. The slider is an intelligent filter for the many offers.
